How this comparison was built

On November 3, 2026 we searched for "online HIPAA certification", "best online HIPAA training", "HIPAA certification for individuals online", and "HIPAA training for employees online". The HIPAA training sellers that came up most often were The HIPAA Journal, Accountable, HIPAA Exams (with its parent company 360training), and Compliancy Group. We added HIPAATraining.com and ProHIPAA, two self-serve course sellers with public per-learner prices, so the table covers more of the per-learner market. We then read each provider's own product, pricing, FAQ, and terms pages that day. We did not use review sites, reseller listings, or estimates. Nothing on this page uses ratings, review counts, or customer totals for anyone, including us.

The single-learner column uses each provider's general HIPAA course for an individual. The team table multiplies a provider's published per-learner price for that team size by the learner count. Compliance platforms are shown with their plan prices because they do not sell training per learner.

The USA HIPAA row is generated from the same catalog code the cart uses, so it changes when our prices change. Its course length, certificate term, and refund terms match the HIPAA certification page, pricing page, and terms.

What is the cheapest online HIPAA certification?

Among the providers on this page, Accountable listed the lowest certificate price on November 3, 2026: free training and a $25 completion certificate. The HIPAA Journal showed a $26.25 time-limited offer on a $35 normal price, HIPAA Exams listed $28.99, ProHIPAA $29.95, and HIPAATraining.com $29.99. USA HIPAA's HIPAA Essentials is $39 for one learner, so it is not the cheapest single certificate here.

Which providers publish team pricing?

The HIPAA Journal, HIPAATraining.com, and USA HIPAA publish per-learner volume prices. HIPAA Exams and ProHIPAA quote group prices through sales or a quote form, Compliancy Group prices its platform by request, and Accountable sells training inside compliance software plans. At the team sizes in the table, USA HIPAA's published price is the lowest of the three that publish one: $29, $21, and $16 per learner at 5, 25, and 100 learners. HIPAATraining.com is lower at 200 to 299 learners.

Which online HIPAA courses include CE credits?

HIPAA Exams lists 0.2 IACET CEUs for HIPAA Training for Healthcare Workers, and The HIPAA Journal's employee course page lists 5.0 CEUs. The other providers here did not list CE credits on the pages we read. USA HIPAA does not offer CE credits.

How long is an online HIPAA certificate valid?

It depends on the provider. HIPAATraining.com lists a two-year certificate. HIPAA Exams and USA HIPAA certificates are valid for one year. Accountable's sample certificate shows one year. The HIPAA Journal, ProHIPAA, and Compliancy Group did not list a validity period. HIPAA itself does not set an expiration date for private training certificates; employers set their own refresher schedules.

Is any online HIPAA certification approved by the government?

No. HHS does not endorse private HIPAA training providers or certify people as HIPAA compliant. Every certificate on this page documents completion of private training. Some providers carry continuing education accreditation for a course, which is a separate thing.

Why does a USA HIPAA page say competitors are cheaper?

Because they are for one learner, and a comparison that hid that would not be useful. USA HIPAA is built for teams that want published per-learner prices up to 1,000 learners and seat assignment after payment. If you need one certificate at the lowest price, or CE credits, the table shows who offers them.
